The least of things with a meaning is worth more in life than the greatest of things without it.
There is a universal search for meaning, wholeness, and transcendence which takes many different forms. Indeed, in many traditions, the crisis or wounding that brings us into therapy is seen as part of or central to this path. Many clients, as a result, now recognize the value of addressing the spiritual realm in their healing and growth.
Explore your spirituality
For some, there have been severe injuries in this area, which have resulted in feeling cut-off from a larger sense of self in the universe. For others, whether it is to explore an understanding of one’s own personal spiritual path, or to use what is understood and apply it directly to the growth process, bringing spirituality into the therapy room adds a whole new dimension to the healing. A telling of a personal story often reveals a larger, more universal one.
It is not necessary for the therapist to have the same experiences and/or belief system as you may have or develop; what is necessary is a respectful understanding and support of your spiritual search as part of your life path.
